More about Lindsay

Following a passion for the natural word, Lindsay received her Bachelors of Science degree in Horticulture and Landscape Design at Virginia Tech where she sought to get people outdoors and experience the rhythms of the seasons. In 2009 she began her graduate studies at the Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH) in Laurel, MD and completed her Masters of Science degree in Herbal Medicine in 2012. She specialized in circadian rhythm physiology and sleep support.

Being the only accredited graduate herbal medicine program in the country, she gained specialized experience integrating modern scientific knowledge with traditional wisdom to generate a well informed understanding of the therapeutic potential of medicinal plants. Combining practical skills with foundational theory, the program provides a thorough 3 year clinical education covering the principles of health and wellness; herb identification and wildcrafting, herbal pharmacy; herbal pharmacology and phytochemistry; integrative human physiology; extensive nutritional training; research methods; materia medica; clinical application skills and herbal therapeutics. This extensive degree results in the accumulation of 84 graduate level credits. A typical masters degree requires the acquisition of only 36 credits.

During her third year at MUIH, she actively practiced in the faculty supervised student herbal medicine clinic and completed a 2 year apprenticeship in the Herb Dispensary compounding with over 100 western, Ayurvedic and Chinese herbs. Being continually active in modern medicinal research, she participated in collecting and compiling international research for the Appalachian Center for Ethnobotanical Studies medicinal plant monographs, and also helped to facilitate medicinal herb clinical trials MUIH.

Following the completion of her Masters work, Lindsay earned her Certification in Nutrition (CNS) from the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists. She is also a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) by the Maryland State Board of Dietetics. She practices integrative herbal therapeutics & nutrition at Richmond Natural Medicine and operates her own compounding herb dispensary. For more information, visit richmondnaturalmed.com
