In the past 20 years, DNA sequencing technology such as 23andme has allowed us to understand and access our genetic code, for a bargain and from the comfort of your home!

As a result, many companies and practitioners began making health recommendations - such as supplements, diets and health risks - based purely on a person's genes.

So what’s the problem with that you ask? Well, your genes are not, in fact, your destiny. Yes, it's true. Your body and your health are more complicated and nuanced than those test results may lend you to believe. There are many factors that influence your health. Most diseases are not purely genetic in origin, but are instead a result of many genes, interacting with many lifetime influences.

In this talk, Tressa Breindel will explain how genetics does, and does not, influence the course of your health. Tressa will also discuss what you can learn from your genetics, how to learn it, and what to do about it. There will be ample time for questions and answers so that you can best understand how to move forward with your test results, disease prevention and lifestyle.
