You + Valentine’s Day = Pasta Party

Ring in Valentine’s Day with Billy Pasta for two

This Valentine’s Day, skip the fuss of dining out and embrace the coziness of a meal at home for two — without ditching the culinary prowess you’d expect from a night on the town. Let’s be honest, with the dedicated day of love falling in the middle of the week, we could all use a little edible assist.

Struck by cupid’s arrow and in search of a simple and satiating way to ring in the holiday? Billy Pasta may be the perfect match. Located inside Ellwood Thompson’s, the made-to-order pasta counter presents chef-driven dinners to go.

Helming the venture is Billy Fallen, best known for his frozen ‘za concept Billy Pie, and former Dutch & Co. owner and chef Caleb Shriver. Together, the duo craft hand-cut, fresh-made egg-based pastas with a fast-casual approach, daily.

Billy Pasta officially joined the Ellwood Thompson store in August. The partnership between Fallen, Shriver and Ellwood Thompson’s founder Rick Hood was organic, all three sharing a devotion to local producers. The Carytown store has also been a proud supporter of Fallen’s products, including his Billy Bread baguettes and Billy Pie frozen pizzas.

Following the shutter of his acclaimed Church Hill restaurant Dutch & Co. in 2020, Shriver began working at Billy Pie. At the time, Hood was looking to introduce an in-house concept to Ellwood’s. The rest is carb-centric history.

Whether ordering indulgent cacio e pepe to go for a candlelit dinner, or grabbing supplies to whip up spaghetti with a hearty bolognese in the kitchen with your honey, both set the foundation for a little “Lady and Tramp” action.

Other pasta choices include sauces such as a classic marinara, kale and lemon-ricotta pest, and a seasonal variety, with noodles that range from fusilli to casarecce. A cold case at the Billy Pasta counter also houses salads and sides. Gluten-free options are available upon request.

Bust out the candles, que the playlist of love tunes, and enjoy the ease of eating in the comfort of your home with your Valentine.
