Come join us and our friends from RICJL for a series of films about some hot topics, literally.  All programs are from 6:00 – 8:00pm in The Beet at Ellwood Thompson’s and will include speakers and discussion about topics relevant to our community!

Monday, July 10th  |  Time to Choose

Released in September 2016, this documentary by award-winning filmmaker Charles Ferguson captures the urgency and innovation of this critical moment of challenges to the planet and takes audiences on a journey from the threats we face to the remarkable stories of people actively changing the world.  Stunning photography sets this film apart and facilitates the inspirational message that we can take action – we can choose.

Monday, August 7th  |  Divide In Concord

This is the story about an 84-year-old woman trying to take down the third largest industry in the world.  Jean Hill, a self-proclaimed warrior, leads historic Concord, Mass on America’s first environmental crusade to ban the sale of bottled water.  Illustrates the power of one, that can influence a movement – about water rights and protection, plastic, resource conservation, and grassroots community involvement!

Monday, September 11th  |  Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking the Domination Code

Based in the book Pagans In the Promised Land by Steven Newcomb (Shawnee/Lenape), cofounder/director of the Indigenous Law Institute, this film documents the foundation for discovery and domination of land and people created by the early Christian Church that continues today.  A story of historical truth, spirituality, and resistance, told on behalf of the original nations and peoples of Great Turtle Island and elsewhere on Mother Earth.
