Dr. Hurt is a clinical restorative nutritionist who also works in research and development for nutritional supplement providers.  She has presented at GI conferences, nutritional conferences, and Dr. Hurt is a Board member as well as the Education Director for the local cancer prevention organization Hitting Cancer Below the Belt (HCB2).

Hitting Cancer Below the Belt (HCB2) is a Richmond-based cancer prevention organization which focuses on providing awareness raising events, prevention education, colorectal cancer early detection services, and support for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.

Are you still eating yogurt?  Enjoying your green tea?  Reading labels to avoid too much fat?  Buying your probiotics off the drugstore shelves but you have questions as to the efficacy of your choices?  This is an evening where you get to share your thoughts about nutrition, ask questions of an expert MD, and get real, practical help and tools that you need to perfect you personal diet.

Here are some choice questions that will get the ball rolling:

  1. I am a recent colon cancer survivor and I’ve been reading quite a bit about the importance of digestive health. The amount of information is overwhelming and I don’t know where to start. Help! Can you give me at least, the top 3 things I should be doing for my health?
  2. What is the difference between a “probiotic” and a “prebiotic”?
  3. If taking a probiotic, what are the signs that one needs a prebiotic as well?
  4. Can there be too much “good bacteria” ina compromised GI tract?
