Experience thought provoking spoken word poetry featuring hot Richmond artists Roscoe Burnems and John Survivor Blake followed by a meaningful community dialogue facilitated by Denise Dolan about the issues raised by the poets.

Get to know yourself and others in the community through this unique and meaningful dialogue process that honors extroverts and introverts. Many participants have had surprising breakthroughs and made new friends.

WORLD PERCUSSIONIST,
RAM BHAGAT…

Is an international conflict resolution trainer for the Richmond Peace Education Center and founder of the Richmond Youth Peace Project. Bhagat is also co-founder and Artistic Director of Drums No Guns (DNG), a world percussion ensemble whose powerful musical imagery and prophetic spoken word inspires citizens of all ages and races. Ram has studied World Rhythm Music from Africa, Brazil, and the Caribbean. He has performed and recorded with various artists, dance companies, and theatrical productions.

In the arena of social justice, DNG led the Million Mom March, the largest protest for sensible gun legislation in United States history. Bhagat’s deep commitment to the prevention of gun violence and the social emotional health of African American male adolescents was triggered by the gun death of his younger brother.
