We take pride in the prepared foods at Ellwood Thompson’s because they combine all of the fresh, organic and natural food we so eagerly promote in our market. The house recipes we cook from are prepared with locally-sourced ingredients to give you a wide variety of dishes including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and low-sodium meals. All our dishes use meat, poultry, and seafood that are naturally raised, healthy, and organic. This goes for our sandwiches, wraps, soups and fresh sushi as well.
Whether you’re coming in for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you’ll be eating food prepared with the standards we use in our store. Natural and organic ingredients, no artificial colors, preservatives or synthetic additives. Our hot bar, salad bar, and raw bar are just the same. We like to keep you healthy.
The majority of what we prepare is plant-based. It keeps our recipes nutrient-dense and if you’re vegan or vegetarian, you’ll love what we have for you. In fact, we enjoy catering to specialty diets, because we know it can be difficult for you to find places to sit and eat properly prepared food if you’re gluten-free, dairy-free, raw, low-sugar or low-sodium.

You can find something at our bakery to satisfy your craving, whether you’re looking for fresh-baked bread, gluten-free ingredient goods (GFI*) or no-bake raw goods. Our bakery team is up early every day creating homemade breads, pastries and other baked treats using only the freshest and simplest of ingredients.
All our baked foods are prepared using unbleached, unbromated flour, and many are made with whole wheat. You will find we also use organic whole grains such as quinoa, flax and chia to keep our breads healthy and nutrient-dense. Any sugar that we use is pure - natural cane sugar, organic raw agave, or liquid cane sugar. We also ground our grains fresh for our breads, so they don’t oxidize. Come taste how fresh a loaf like that is when it’s straight out of the oven!
Any goods we bring into our bakery from other bakeries in Richmond are locally sourced and kept to our quality. We only work with bakers who meet our baking and ingredient standards in order to provide you with gluten-free ingredient goods or raw baked goods that are the freshest and healthiest for you and your family.
