William Byrd Community House
Last week we had the pleasure of having a visit from the William Byrd Community House and showing them a tour of the store. There were plenty of questions and of course everyone loved the samples. Thanks for coming in guys! And if you have a school or organization that would like a short tour of our store, please contact Paige Bishop.
Local Spotlight on ESPN: Evan Venditti of Re-Cycles Bikeshop
I’ve known this guy for about…4 years now and he’s as good as they come. As owner of Re-Cycles bike shop, located on 2621 W. Cary Street, Evan helps people transit throughout the city on two wheels as his job. The shop is one of my top go-to places for repairs, parts and great service, and it’s just blocks away from Ellwoods!
We just recently found a great interview on ESPN done back in June on the man himself. Click here for the interview.
A HAPPE Sunday
Today was filled with perfect things. Great weather, yummy food and DOGS! Around noon today, HAPPE Pets brought over some pups and hung out on our patio with customers and employees. Needless to say, everyone was really excited to meet the dogs they brought with them today.

Movie in the Garden!
Last night we partnered again with our friends at Tricycle Gardens and the Humphrey Calder Community Garden to kick off the summer movie in the garden series. For a first attempt the turnout was awesome! Sitting under the large Oak trees, the projector screen was down and Spielberg’s “The Goonies” was rolling. I almost forgot how good of a movie this is.
Worn Again 2010
We were so happy to be a part of the 7th Annual Worn Again Fashion Show! Thanks to all the people that helped put it together, it was truly an event not to be missed.
HCCG Update
Last year we teamed up with Tricycle Gardens and the City of Richmond to create the first community garden in Richmond’s museum district, just blocks away from our store. With over 20 plots, community members were now able to grow whatever they wanted in their own time. Spacious plots provided rich soil and ample sunlight for amazing tomatoes, melons, greens, summer squash and more. Well it’s been almost over a year now and… Read the rest of this post »
Southern Exposure Seed Exchange

Our good friends over at Southern Exposure Seed Exchange were just featured in a nice little article on Charlottesville’s Daily Progress. We’ve been working for Southern Exposure for many years now and love their practices, their organic methods, their stance on Non-GMO’s and the best part, they’re local. Read the article.
