Found object art at Ellwood’s

As Ellwood’s shortly opens its doors in February, we will also begin to showcase local artists that have been so influential to our city and believe in the same values that we do. We’re going to start off with our friend Ed Trask for the opening months, but after that, we’d like to introduce you to a lady named Deane Bowers. Ellwood’s Coffee is working directly with the artist Deane Bowers, a local found object artist. Deane collects metal trash from Carytown, the Fan and in particular our parking lot. You can thank her for never having a flat tire in our parking lot. She collects anything from scrap paper, rusty metal, bottle caps, nails, and anything that is able to live a second life. Using glue as the only material she purchases, Deane is able to create beautiful art from these discarded items.
Starting this week she’s been diving for discarded construction materials from our construction dumpsters to use. We love working w/ someone so dedicated to recycling and at the same time cleaning the built environment.
She will create 2 permanent wall plaques and display her art in the shop for 2 months beginning April 1.
