When Flora ® asked Ellwood Thompson’s if they had any employees interested in doing their 25-day “WOW I feel great” return to health program, I quickly responded “yes”! So, they sent me 3 bottles of the liquid Flor-Essence herbal tea (enough for 25 days) and a nutritional guide explaining what to expect when cleansing, meal plans, and how to start making better dietary choices once you’re done with the cleanse. I started my detox program today and I’ll be blogging about my experience throughout the next 25 days. First, I’d like to explain more about Flor-Essence and why we all need to cleanse periodically. Flor-Essence is very gentle on your body while ridding your system of unwanted toxins and waste materials. Traditionally, ancient cultures have used cleansing and/or fasting as a way to maintain good health. Choosing a gentle yet effective herbal detoxification product that is not just a laxative but supports all of the body’s natural cleansing pathways (skin, lungs, liver, kidneys, and intestines) such as Flor-Essence is crucial. A good cleansing product needs to support the body’s natural detoxification process which occurs at the cellular level and nourish it at the same time. Healthy eating is important when undergoing detoxification. It is easy to incorporate a product that will rid the body of toxins; ensuring that we are also nourishing our cells with bio-available nutrients is critical. It won’t do any good to remove toxins if you are (at the same time) putting more in by way of junk food and/or processed foods. We absorb nutrients easily from real food; the liver and the digestive tract recognize whole, unrefined foods and know exactly how to metabolize them. There exists a certain synergy in whole foods, which allows the body to absorb numerous nutrients at once. Flor-Essence works in a similar synergistic manner. The way this eight-herb formula is able to gently detoxify the body is akin to eating a whole food diet. It cleanses the entire body rather than just acting as a harsh intestinal cleanse. Many people have suffered from harsh cleanses and have had to change their lifestyle entirely during the cleansing program. Flor-Essence is able to cleanse down to the cellular level. It is a liquid herbal tea, so anyone can adjust the dosage to suit his/her individual needs and reactions. An average does of one ounce twice a day will last about 25 days. Some major objectives of this return to health program are to:-increase the consumption of raw foods-increase consumption of clean water-raise awareness on the importance of chewing foodThere are four main points to focus on in this return to health program:1) flushing out the toxins- get started with water and good fiber2) regaining acid/alkaline balance3) food combining for complete vegetarian protein4) reading labels: identifying “non-foods” and eliminating refined sugars. My first day, I woke up and had Flor-Essence tea on an empty stomach. I had a soft-boiled egg on toast for breakfast. Then I had a banana and raw almonds for a snack followed by a green salad with olives, sprouts, and raw seeds for lunch. For dinner, I will eat steamed veggies with brown rice. I really like this cleanse because I can eat! It has a very comprehensive meal-plan that I can easily follow. For weeks now, I have been feeling extremely tired and irritated (hormonal imbalance). I’ve had low energy, “foggy brain”, headaches, poor sleep, inflammation, and some food intolerances. Today, I’m mostly feeling tired, irritable, and “foggy”. The tea tasted great and I can’t wait to grocery shop at Ellwood’s after work! I think this is one cleanse program that I can/will actually stick with. Look forward to more blogs from me about the 25-day cleanse that will be much shorter…I promise!-Alissa

I have also just started the cleanse today actually and i was pleasently surprised by the taste of the tea! I had the power smoothie at 11:00 and happy to say that it actually filled me and i’m still not wanting a snack yet. I will make sure i check back to your posts cause it’s interesting to know how others are doing on it.
